Dear Mike,

I would agree.  Awareness is a better way to go here.
Most Blind people have too much going against them in a fight.
You should only fight back if forced to because you fear for your life.
If you are going to study a form of Marshall Arts I would suggest Judo as it 
is designed and best used to smaller and weaker people de defending 
themselves against a larger and more powerful attacker.
It takes advantage of the attackers own size, strength and weight and turns 
it against them.
