Hi, Listers:
My name is Chris Jones from Tacoma, Washington. My wife, Judy, is the President of the NFB or Washington--Pierce County here in Tacoma. Both of us are blind.
I also work as the Student Disability Specialist at Clover Park Technical College in Lakewood, near Tacoma. I have a query with which I need some help. I have a potential student who is totally blind and he wants to enroll in our Radio Broadcasting Program. His primary goal is to be a disc jockey. Our degree program is more intense than that and the vocational instructor has spoken to some software vendors who seem to think that the graphics used will make it impossible for this student to work through all of the curricula involved. He knows of blind people who have been successful, but I need to be put in touch with someone who may know how to work around some of this, on behalf of this young man. Please feel free to respond to this note or to me privately at my home e-mail address at chris_l_jones at earthlink.net or, if you wish to contact me at work, my phone number is (253) 589-5767 and my work e-mail is chris.jones at cptc.edu.
Thank you all in advance for any suggestions.
Yours in the NFB,
Chris Jones
