Consider the banquet a fun dress-up party. Wear whatever you have in the closet that makes you feel well dressed and come enjoy the biggest party and pep rally you are ever likely to go to. You will fit right in no matter what you wear.
Most women come in their Sunday-best dress or skirt or pants suit, and most men wear nice suits; a few wear tuxes. Some women wear what I would call a ball gown, some a cocktail dress. And some folks just come in their clean blue jeans. I've even seen a few young men wearing shorts. Members know that some of our folks don't have the money for fancy clothes, so nobody ever comments on what others are wearing to the banquet except to say if the clothes look pretty. Pretty clothes are fun, sure, but the important part is the being together, the always interesting speech by President Maurer on what's happening concerning blind civil right in the United States and the world, and finding out who wins which scholarship and what careers these young blind college students are going into.

Hi, Cheryl,
lease take a look at the April 2006 "Braille Monitor" article. It will nswer these questions and more. For the bottom-line answer to your uestion of timing, here is my idea for it. If you wish to be a part of he entire convention: arrive at the hotel in time for the 8;30 A.M.
vents on Saturday, June 30; leave after 5 P.M. on Friday, July 6. The onvention breaks down into these 3 big sections:
Saturday has many workshops and seminars, all day and into the evening.
y the way, Mrs. Cheadle tells me that her division, the National rganization for Parents of Blind Children (NOPBC) has changed a bit and ow charges $15 for attendance at their convention events, which covers he Saturday day-long seminar plus all the daily special workshops and eetings they run all week. The single fee of $15 covers all the eetings plus the fat packet of materials.
Sunday and Monday, we have specialty meetings.
ne may choose to attend the annual 3-hour to 4-hour meetings of most of he divisions, the meeting of the NFB National Board, the meeting of the esolutions Committee, and find some time to enter the Exhibit Hall hich is open from after breakfast to suppertime on both days.
Tuesday through Friday, we all meet in the big convention hall to be "in onvention assembled" to hear the national issues discussed from the odium and have a chance to put our two-cents in from the floor mikes.
he Exhibit Hall is open many times these four days, but not when the eneral sessions are going on. There will be multiple meetings of ivisions and groups, information events, and fundraisers going on each orning, each noon, and each evening, except for Thursday night.
hursday night is the big, dress up pretty, national banquet. The onvention ends at 5 P.M. Friday.
See you there!
