>Tickets are now on sale for this <http://www.nfb.org/nfb/Celebration_2007.asp>annual fund raiser to help support the work of our state and local affiliates and the programs of the Jernigan Institute. We are pleased that Comcast is our title sponsor this year, along with many other national companies, but there is still time to <http://www.nfb.org/Images/nfb/documents/pdf/Celebration%202007%20Sponsor%20Info.pdf>become a sponsor. Over seventeen of Baltimore's best restaurants will feature delicious treats, and dancing to the big band sound of Mood Swings will make the event a big success.

>Grants from NASA, the UPS Foundation, and the Honda Foundation will help bring two hundred blind youth to Baltimore for the <http://www.blindscience.org/ncbys/Youth_Slam.asp>NFB Youth Slam, a four-day experiential academy that will expose these high school students to science, engineering, and the powerful impact of positive blind role models. Blind teens and mentors are now registering for this dynamic STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) academy to be held July 30 through August 3 on the campus of the Johns Hopkins University and the Jernigan Institute in Baltimore. The Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering and Space Telescope Institute, along with other partners, join the NFB in this exciting venture.

>Improving the availability of high quality Braille has been a goal of the NFB for years, and now the operation of the Braille Transcribing and Braille Proofreading Certification Program provides another opportunity for the NFB to lead in this critically important area for the blind. Jennifer Dunnam, NFB's Manager of Braille Programs, will direct our efforts to provide timely distribution of materials so individuals around the country can prepare themselves for Braille transcriber and/or proofreader certification. Read our <http://www.nfb.org/nfb/NewsBot.asp?MODE=VIEW&ID=119>press release to learn more about this project.
