Well, I think it would greatly decrease the size of our conventions if we
had to pay the standard hotel rates. I wonder how much of a discount other
conventions get when traveling to a city. Even though the room rates are
lower, restaurant prices are not. So, in one instance, we are getting a
good convention rate, but still pay the price for food.
The other thing to be considered is that many convention attendees are
either unemployed or under employed. I've often wondered how some people
manage to attend conventions, given their income or lack of income. So, I
guess I think the lower hotel rate is really a very small perk.

This is exactly why I do not attend convention. Atlanta, Dallas,
Detroit, and Louisville. Always the same cities. Marc needs to branch
out. Members need to realize that the rates that NFB gets are not real
world.
The last sentence brings up an interesting philosophical question. We
claim we are equal. We expect equal treatment. Yet we always want
cheap hotel rates for our convention. Is that a correct position for us
to take? Personally I think not. What do others think?
William
P.S.
The only way I will attend another convention is if it is held somewhere
I want to visit.
