I was unable to attend the march because of my job, but I have been told by
many that it was wonderful! My fiance was one of the sign holders for the
state of GA. One of the things I applaud the organizers for is having
trollys and such there for those who were unable to walk far so that they
too could still participate. While I was waiting for the bus that took me to
work from the hotel, I got the opportunity to hear comments from by-standers
who knew of the march and I wondered what impact if any the march would have
on them. I heard comments such as "they are having their little march today.
That is why all the roads are closed." which was followed in the same
conversation by "some of them are walking to fast, they can't see they don't
need to be walking fast." or my favorite, "They'are having some walk for the
VIP'S and it is holding up trafic. They oughta have this VIP thing some
other day when I don't need to be out here driving." My hope is that one day
our yearly march will be seen with as much importance as other civil rights
marches Atlanta and other cities hold.
