Correct -- eligibility for SSDI is based on your income, and whether or not
you engage in "substantial gainful activity" -- which does not take into
account assetts.

SSI is a much more rigidly and strictly monitored means tested program -- 
any assetts over a few thousand bucks disqualifies (with some exceptions, of
course, such as you primary residency).
