To be fair, when you see the people on this list talking about what
limitations don't have to exist for a blind person, we are talking about
people for whom blindness is their only disability. A person with a
non-visual disability in addition to blindness--and CP certainly does
qualify as an additional disability--may not be able to do the things that
people who don't have that disability can do upon leaving our training
centers.
Our centers do take students with multiple disabilities and they do
whatever they can do. I noted before that I was not able to participate
in many of the challenge recreation field trips of additional medical
factors that make it difficult for me to do those things. I had hoped for
a chance to climb an indoor wall in the winter months, but we didn't
manage to arrange such a trip during the time I was there.
Ah well. The point of those kinds of exercises is to come out of them
knowing that you could do them, and with slightly different circumstances
I do know that I absolutely could, and it would be lots of fun.
