The problem with gluing the handle back on is that the crack always shows. 
For the rest of your life people say, "He's cracked."  And how can you argue
with them.

My recommendation is to get the handle really hot and jam it back on, hoping
the materials will sort of flow together.  Now, keep in mind that this
doesn't last very long and usually leaves you with a pretty weak  handle on
life, but, that's pretty much what everybody else has anyway.
