We are home after 26 days on the road, and despite shutting down many
listservs I still found 2300 messages waiting. today I downloaded and looked
at return eddresses and subjects of 300, and read about ten. I will not
re-activate the listservs until I am caught up, so if you especially want me
to see something please send me an off-list carbon.
When I left on the trip I felt that my guide dog, Judge, was in reasonable
health but elderly and likely to have problems with the 100+ degree temps of
Las Vegas and Phoenix, so I left him home with a pet sitter. Sunday Aug 20 I
got a message that he was not well and replied that he should be taken to
the vet. Then on Fri Aug 25 I got an urgent message to phone the vet. He had
developed cancer of the spleen which had metastasized, and the cancer would
burst and flood his body with blood cells, when he would show signs of
distress. The vet said that nothing more could be done with reasonable
chance of success so I authorized putting him to sleep. He will be missed by
many fen, especially hosts of bid parties and con suites where he vigorously
policed the floor.
Tomorrow I will be phoning the Seeing Eye about availability of apaces in
future classes. Because of obligations in Oct and Nov I am thinking of
asking for December.
Please pass the word on to others who would be interested.
Best
