Terry,
Besides his work with reading machines, Ray Kurzweil developed a line of music synthesizers/keyboards many years ago. As I understant it, he was one of the first
to sample real instrument sounds and use those sounds in a keyboard. Kurzweil keyboards have been a part of the music scene for many years now. These
keyboards are not intended specifically for blind people and are sold in mainstream music stores which is why they are not shown at conventions. However, all new
keyboards present accessibility problems for blind musicians, and I assume this is the purpose of the list. I think the confusion is arising from the Kurzweil name
implying a blindness product but these are mainstream products. I hope this clears it up.
