[nfb-talk] A matter of trust Re: Cash

There always has to be an element of trust in any transaction of money. We
do have to rely on a sighted person to tell us what money we have and trust
that they're being truthful. To demand that the government and private
business incur the expense of changing our existing system for the small
number of blind people in the country, and even smaller incidences of
deliberate dishonesty, is just unreasonable.

Where does it stop? Why not demand that all cash registers be required to
talk, so we're sure that the credit card slip we're asked to sign says what
we're told it says? I believe there's a higher likelihood of dishonesty,
here, than in a cash transaction, and even those instances are relatively
small.

So, it's a lot of smoke where there is no fire.
