[nfb-talk] Open Letter to Marc Maurer

Robin,

Do all sighted people have the same priorities and want the same things?
No! So why do you insist that all the blind should? Just as I am not
likely to vote Democrat anytime soon, I do not intend to reprioritize
and support ACB objectives that I believe differ from The things I
believe. I do not expect you or any ACB member to do it either. The
two groups generally don't agree for a reason.

When all you fine Democrats start voting Republican, then perhaps I will
expect the ACB to also all join NFB. Neither ever will happen.

I have said it before on this list. Our entire government system works
on the input from all the different interest groups who lobby.
Legislators seek information from experts. NFB and ACB both go to
Washington and attempt to influence the law makers. That is how our
system has always worked. I expect it will continue to work the same
way.

Sighted people do not agree on all issues of interest to themselves. It
is naive to expect that the blind would be a homogeneous group and agree
either.

William

It really does not matter whom is keeping more of the bad blood going.
It just has to stop and both groups have members spreading false
information. contrary to the propaganda that NFB members spout no where
does ACB think the world has to be completely modified for blind people
to survive nor does the organization have the view blind people are
helpless and need to be pittied. on the same note NFB has done much
positive in legislation and is not simply a money making machine that
wants to fill its own kaufers and does absolutely nothing else. There
are good caring members in each group but name calling does nothing
except keep the fued going and both groups make blind people look like
indecisive spoiled brats who cannot even agree on the issues. We are
fighting and giving the sighted public a way out of passing good
legislation as well never having to provide accomodations that might be
needed. Time for us all to grow up. Frankly if either group asked me
for
anything and I were the general public I would say you forget it if you
all do not even know what you want and just want to throw temper fits.

Robyn
