[Nfb-seniors] Nfb-seniors Digest, Vol 2, Issue 7

Hello David, George and Judy! vow, I am exhausted just looking for your
messages. Why must our Senior Site be so messed up with endless repetitions
and lines? Let us use the KISS method, Keep It Simple Sweethearts! Let's beg
our Webmaster to clean up our act. I feel that a strong organization like
the NFB must help us advocate for free high speed Internet access. If you
are older, it is hard to learn Braille and we can hear what is written with
Zoom text. Only a tiny Minority uses Braille. Zoom Text enlarges and
talks!!! Most Deaf Seniors can see what we write. Only a tiny minority uses
ASL since the majority of seniors do not need to learn , so let's cross
communicate with computers. The FCC subsidizes Video Relay Services for the
MINORITY at nearly $7.- per minute! Let our Leaders advocate for FREE HIGH
SPEED INTERNET ACCESS FOR ALL CERTIFIED DEAF AND BLIND!!!! don't LET THEM
SAY, THAT IS NOT OUR JOB! Ouch! As usual I stepped on so many toes again,
so let me apologize with the Love of Aloha!

Hello David, George and Judy! vow, I am exhausted just looking for your messages. Why must our Senior Site be so messed up with endless repetitions and lines? Let us use the KISS method, Keep It Simple Sweethearts! Let's beg our Webmaster to clean up our act. I feel that a strong organization like the NFB must help us advocate for free high speed Internet access. If you are older, it is hard to learn Braille and we can hear what is written with Zoom text. Only a tiny Minority uses Braille. Zoom Text enlarges and talks!!! Most Deaf Seniors can see what we write. Only a tiny minority uses ASL since the majority of seniors do not need to learn , so let's cross communicate with computers. The FCC subsidizes Video Relay Services for the MINORITY at nearly $7.- per minute! Let our Leaders advocate for FREE HIGH SPEED INTERNET ACCESS FOR ALL CERTIFIED DEAF AND BLIND!!!! don't LET THEM SAY, THAT IS NOT OUR JOB! Ouch! As usual I stepped on so many toes again, so let me apologize with the Love of Aloha!

Dear David.
Thank you for writing back. You hit the nail right on the head. It is hard
to admit my age and blindness because there is sooo much hostility against
us. Even the courts in civil landlord tenant actions have no mercy what so
ever and there is no HELP, Also it takes some time to find the mail in this
net, sooo much to read first.

Dear David.
Thank you for writing back. You hit the nail right on the head. It is hard to admit my age and blindness because there is sooo much hostility against us. Even the courts in civil landlord tenant actions have no mercy what so ever and there is no HELP, Also it takes some time to find the mail in this net, sooo much to read first.?
With the Love of Aloha to All hg pink

Dear ?pinkhawaii,
I think that we have a hard time communicating with seniors for a number of
reasons.
Many seniors, of this generation, do not like to ask for help or are
embarrassed to let other people know that there is something "wrong" with
them.
They have false pride issues and denial ?of what has happened to them. ?They
often try to hide from the stigma of blindness.
In their minds, the carrying of a white cane would be an admission of their
being blind and they don't want to do that because then the World will know.
Also seniors of this generation have not all caught up to the use of the
computer as yet. ?They are slowly becoming "wired" in to the Internet.
Seniors communicate and let their hair down easier with other seniors.
Therefore, if we are to reach seniors, we must use other seniors to do it.
They just seem to have more in common that way.
I will be 61 years old this month, but still don't think of myself really as
a senior yet.
I work with seniors all of the time in helping to provide transportation
services to them everyday.
I can not say that I really understand them fully, but I do know that this
generation of seniors still resist help and anything they feel is "charity."
They have allot of pride and pride must always go before the fall.
