Attention all Seniors!

Are you concerned about the danger that the new quiet cars pose to pedestrians? Have you considered that the threat from these cars is not just to blind persons? Whether a slow moving car in a parking lot or silently coming through an intersection many pedestrians can be caught unaware.

The NFB is taking to lead to eliminate this danger but we cannot do this alone. Many of you may be connected with other groups that should share our concern. Therefore, we are requesting that you ask them to become involved. Legislation has been introduced in the House of Representatives and we need to show our support for it.

HR5734 is the Pedestrian Safety Enhancement Act. We need as many cosponsors as we can get. Ask your Congressman to contact the chief authors of this bill and add their name as a cosponsor. Democrats should contact Rep. Towns of New York and republicans should be in touch with Rep. Stearns of Florida. Ask your friends and others to contact their congressmen as well.

Report your success on this list and use this list to ask any questions you may have.

Thank you for your cooperation. Let's all work together to make traveling in our communities safe for everyone.

Judy Sanders, president
NFB Senior Division
