[NFB-Science] Resources about the Origins of VoiceOver

Hello all, 

I am studying Web Development at the University of Connecticut and I need to write a large thesis paper for one of my courses. I am examining how VoiceOver impacts the numerous intersections between the blind and other identities like age, gender, and race. I was trying to do research on who developed VoiceOver, but I could only find that it was made by Apple. Does anyone know who specifically made VoiceOver and what their identities were (sighted, white, 25 year old, etc.)? If so, can you point me to an article that discusses this so that I can use it in my paper?
