[Nfb-river-city] "We're Putting These In For You Guys"

Dear NFB River City Chapter Members and Friends:
The quote in the subject line is what the construction worker said to me
while he guided me around the site where the City of Sacramento public works
department was renovating a wheelchair ramp--and putting those plastic tiles
of truncated domes into the surface. I'm sure he had no idea what I myself
have asked to be put on--or not put on--wheelchair ramps in the city for me!
But those of you on this list likely do.
Later that day, in fact, many of us learned that we would have yet another
opportunity to make our voices heard on exactly this subject as well as on
other related subjects such as accessible pedestrian signals. This
opportunity will be at the next meeting of the City of Sacramento's
Disabilities Advisory Commission on Thursday evening the 18th. The meeting
is scheduled from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. in City Hall in downtown. Our own
board member Juan Haro, NOMC (a relevant suffix on these matters!) serves on
the commission. So, save this time in your plannner if you want to add your
voice, a voice of reason and fiscal responsibility, to the discussion! More
information from the City's ADA Coordinator, Carol Bradley (who visited our
chapter last year), is pasted below my signature.
Additional details will follow on this listserve in the next couple of days.
In the meantime, please reply or contact me directly if you have any
questions.

Prospective Plan for FY07 before its submittal to the City Council and will

benefits over currently used products and seek DAC's feedback and
