[Nfb-krafters-korner] embossors - how to made one idea

homemade embossers:
To make the pattern, have a friend who is sighted cut out the current
size and shape of praying hands from a print item (church newsletter,
online art?) and glue the cut photo to a chunk of wood that fits the
hand as it will become your embossing stamp. The sighted friend takes
thin strips of edged metal and, as they do in India with brass strips
for table top designs, uses a rubber mallet to pound the strips into the
wood, following the design of the hands. Perhaps the copper wire sold
at craft stores (which is round, not edged) will permit embossing a
design on card stock without tearing a hole in the paper. I suggest
trying 26 gauge and 20 gauge to see what works.

I found praying hands at Walmart. They were metal and stuck to a napkin
ring I was making quite easily. I think you are thinking of "blind
Hands", I'll have to keep looking.
I will let Carol tell you about her embossing set. You know! I bet
someone could make a templet for the hand you are looking for and you
could use the tool to trace it on your card.
