Hope I am not to late for the weekly topic.
I, so far, like to go to craft stores and walmart to buy my yarn,
needles, plastic canvis and more. I have even found some handy items at
the Container store and office supply stores.
When buying yarn, I like to be able to feal it. I have spacific
tectures I use for my plastic canvis but do not know how to define them,
so I would not be able to identify them on line. A majority of the
time, I go with my husband. I tell him what color I want or if I see
something, I ask him what color it is. I had the hardest time finding
shamrock, mint and lime green, in a thickness and tecture that I could
use. Someone had asked for coasters in mint or lime green and since I
had hunter green, I thought of shamrock green.
I am making a cubic cleanex box for a baby shower for someone in my
chapter. I got some very lite, verigated, pastel yarn and some in
bright, rainbow colors. I made one side of the box and showed it to my
friends at work. They loved the bright, or as I called them, rainbow
colors. Now I just have to put the box together.
I am having trouble getting into the site David Andrews sent out, free
paterns.
It would be nice if you all could teach me some yarn terms for telling
what kind of yarn you are getting.
Can you post the full site for buying yarn and other supplies.
I would love to find a place that sells pre cut canvis shapes, outside
what you can get in a regular store. If I want to make a cleanex box, I
have the hardest time finding someone to cut my canvis. Many people
have problems with their hands. My friend that cut out all my slate
cases, has now taken on a new job.
Joyce; how much would you sell a quilt to fit a 3 seater couch? What
about a king sized bed?
Do you have any samples or large pictures of your work?
I have a small portfolio of my canvis work and some pictures.

Hi Joyce,
Good question. Normally, I go to yarn shops and buy on sale. Then I go
to Joann Fabrics or Michaels. If i order online, I go to say Lion Brand
and look at colors and then call the place. I get more of an impression
by talking to someone at an 800 number than looking online and reading
bare bones descriptions.

I apologize for not posting this on Friday. I was out Friday all
day
and had our NFB Chapter meeting Saturday.
cindy sent me a few questions and I altered this one to make it more
generalized.
Do you purchase your crafting supplies at local stores or online?
If you purchase them online how do you go about making your selections
since most are shown by pictures? Do you find the verbal descriptions
well enough online to have a good mind's eye view of them? Please put
in any online resources for places that you recommend that really
helped you out with your choices.
Joyce
