Now I will reply to my own email.

I do a lot of my purchases through EBay and online. I send a lot of email
asking questions about what color this is?, what size is the print? what
weight is the yarn?, etc. Most of the people are good about emailing back
descriptions. They do lack a lot in the initial description of things in EBay
auctions. They depend on people seeing their pictures. I do tell them I am
blind and then thank them for letting me borrow their eyes.

For Fabrics I do have 2 favorite websites that I use and after going through
and picking out some fabrics that sound good to me, I call and talk to them
and they will describe in more detail to me or I will ask them if they have
matching or coordinating fabric to complete the outfit.
I make a lot of overalls and matching T shirts for my Grand daughters. So
if I pick a corduroy for the overalls I will ask what they have that goes
with this for a T shirt and then they will match up ribbing for the shirt for
me. They have a great selections of colored snaps to complete the legs on
the overalls for easy change of a diaper.

fabrics for mostly adults. This is a great sight and the folks are
fantastic. They will help you coordinate fabrics and even match thread to add to
your order. By becoming a member you receive 20% off your order, too. Fabrics
are top quality and they have the kwik Sew Patterns you can purchase or
order with the 20% off with your annual membership. You can call them up and
they will describe colors and prints to you. Another great group of people.

As far as yarn goes I do a lot of shopping on EBay for that. I have gotten
only a couple of things that was not what I thought it would be. If you ask
questions and they don't answer you good enough you can usually find other
auctions of the same yarn and ask them. Once you know enough about it that is
when you can bid on the cheaper of the auctions of the same thing.

Beads are quite a different area. As I recently went to my local craft shop
to purchase beads and since they were in packages the sales lady picked out
the sizes I needed and colorsand beads she thought went well together and my
sighted friend kinda described them to me. This was a first time venture for
me and I had to go with the sighted peoples opinions.

When entering into a new craft I do a lot of research on the internet and
ask a lot of questions. I try to find a local place or person to talk to.
Email is good, but too brief and I like to have an opportunity to have some
hands on feeling of the craft. So I seek out how to find someone. Even a phone
number of someone doing the craft helps. That way you can ask a lot of
questions and as more come up you can ask away. With email it gets stretched out
into days.
