Hi Dianne;
Thanks for taking on the task of creating our craft list. My imfo is in
the e-mail below. I can be your first on the list. Do you think we
should just list names and their crafts or put topics and those that do
that spacific craft. It would be nice to look up knitting and have a
list of contacts under that topic. The bad part is if a person has mor
than one craft, their name will be listed more than once. Let us know
what you think.
By the way, I know two other crafts, but I listed my best and favoret.
It is also the one I feal most cumfertable about teaching and selling.
I also know some about knitting and making pillows with a yarn fringe.

I would love to take on the collecting of information, as last year I
helped NABS put together their membership list and I have the excel
tables all set up. Please send your information to me at :
dianefilipe at peoplepc.com. My phone number is 970-336-1233 .

This is going to be great!!!

I spoke with Joyce, last night, and I want to be on the committee. She

brought this question up to me. No afence, but arts and crafts reminds

me of elementry school. I like it the way it is or your other choice,

Lorraine. The way it is now, lets painters know they are included.

Painting usually is an art, where knitting, plastic canvis... Are

crafts. This way we are all in one. If we do not have a table this

year, I think we should find a designated person to send our imformation

about ourselves and our crafts. If we put together a list, we can hand

it out at the Entrepreneur's table. We need to have someone write up a

mission statement and what ever else we need. This year I suggest we

meet and vote to become a committee and get istablished. We can do

demo's in someone's room and sell items there and during the convention.

Make ourselves known. Then, when we are established, have our own table

in 2009.

If nobody else will take on the job of collecting the imfo, I could
try

to put the imfo in a word document. this would be my first time. I am

not able to do the embossing.

How about changing "handy" crafts to hand crafts? Or just use "arts and

crafts" to cover the widest possible grouping?

Dear Joyce,

Another way that you might get a table is to ask the Entrepreneurs

Division to let you use their table and just be a committee under their

Division.

They are there to promote small business and you seem to have people who

want to sell their goods right?

If you want to go the full route with becoming a Division, you don't

have to re-invent the wheel.

Ask for a copy of another Division's constitution and mission statement

to look at and change to your own means.

Select a Division such as the NFB CARS Division maybe as an example.

..

The Mission statement can be very short and go something like this.

The Blind Crafter's Division is hereby established to promote the Arts

and Crafts of Handy crafts for the Blind.

This Division shall support the learning, teaching, performance and

production of Handy Craft arts, crafts and the production , display and

selling of said items by the Blind.

The interest of the members shall be the guiding influence in

demonstrating the Blind's proficity in any and all Art and Crafts in any

media or manner including both traditional and non-traditional forms.

You would want to have a table location where you can sign up new

members, collect a Division Dues and establish a membership list. You

could also offer items for sell and demonstration.

I am not sure if there is a member number you have to have to go from a

group to a Committee or Division. You would have to ask the National

about that.

It might take two years to get a Division started, but groups and

Committees are easier.

I am glad to offer advice and suggestions right now, but my job is

changing and I will likely be out of town allot as well as trying to get

my own small business started up.

I will give you what time and advice as I can.
