Joyce, et al:

How do you determine how much yarn you need if you are not working from a
pattern?

I have been teaching myself to knit and I am just about finished with a
scarf. For the next project, I have fleece wrap that I really like but I
want to make a knit one that is a little longer in a couple of areas. I
haven't decided on yarn and or colors yet but wanted to know how one goes
about figuring this out. This particular wrap is a little different in
design and actually works better than most which is why I want to use it for
the basic pattern as opposed to just working with a pattern.

TIA,
Cindy
