Dear Joyce,

It is very easy to do.
First of all, you must punch in the numbers for the conference call and its
code number, you can not just speak them into the phone.
To start, dial (1) and then the 10 digit number to call into the conference
service. This is the 712 580 7700 number.
Now when prompted, punch in the code number 63257238 and then hit the (#)
pound key which is located just to the right of the (0) zero key on the
numbers pad of your phone. Be quick about punching in the code as these
systems don't like to wait and may tell you that you have made an error,
even when you haven't.
You will now be welcomed into the chat room and may or may not be asked to
say your name which will be announced to all of the other people on the
call.
You may hear a chime or bing-bong sound as people enter or leave the chat
room. It is normal.
The system may also , or not, announce the buttons for muting and un-muting
your phone. It is usually done by pressing the (*) star key and the number
(6) six. Your system may be different so listen for an announcement as you
enter the room.
The Moderator maybe able to access other code functions as well.
You may be able to digitally record the meeting and down load it later for
transcribing minutes. Just to keep it legal, please announce and agree to
record the meeting at the very beginning so no one gets upset at being
recorded.
It is a great feature and keeps someone from having to spend time and their
attention trying to keep up with a fast moving conversation.
Set some rules. Someone should serve as the chair and callers who wish to
speak should say their name and be recognized by the chair to speak to avoid
having to talk over everyone to get their say.
It will just make for a smoother call.
That is my advise.
These are the way it works in general and each system can be a little
different, but I do this all of the time for the NFB and work and other
boards and committees I serve on.
Its easy.
Enjoy.
