Well, I do both. I do my simple things free form, but for my larger beading
projects such as purses and tapestries I download and buy word charts from
the following sites: www.thebeadcoop.com, www.bead-patterns.com and
www.beadpatterncentral.com Of course there are a million sites to get free
projects, but check out the beadwork site at about.com. Also, Beadwork
Magazine has a site called beading daily that has a free project library.
One of the challenges of getting free projects and tips that the text often
omits or eliminates vital parts of the project but substitutes a visual
diagram with arrows to illustrate. There are a few things I do as a blind
person I can pass along to you. No blind beader should be without the
greatest invention in the world. It's called The Big Eye Needle. It's a
simple invention. It is two pieces of rigid wire attached at both ends and
you open it up in the middle as wide as you need, and slide your thread
in,and push it to one of the ends and it naturally closes up again. It
works for almost every size sead bead but not very good for beads that are
smaller than size 11. it took me a while to finally get my bead stash
labeled in braille after i lost my sight 5 years ago, and I am still
getting organized.
