Hi Joyce,
I sure know what you mean. I have no vision either. I have R P so I
did have vision before. My Mom and Dad and Sister Carol, also a new
member of this group, and brother also have this. We lost our vision
slowly which is a blessing. Our Mom is very strong about keeping
eyes opened. She believes we should not sit in the dark or anything
else that brings attention to our blindness.

Now that isn't to say that she is ashamed or hides her blindness. but
she believes that exceptance comes from excepting the things we can
that are part of our culture.

Now, I do find myself shutting my eyes as I read or do a craft. I
sometimes find myself preparing for bed in a dark bedroom without
realizing it. But when you look at your work you actually help your
hands and mind focus on the work. You also create an open receptive
manner for those around you.

Now, I am not suggesting we should go as far as my Mom, who is
actually a very successful lady of a very young 92 years. But being
aware that people look at your eyes and your facial expression to
gage your interactions in the world around you, open eyes, or any
small things we can do to give an open attitude is in our best interest.

Please except this discussion on my part as food for thought and not a critism.
