Good one Lorraine;
I suggested the NFB maybe 2 weeks ago to Joyce and others. Guess my
message was overlooked.

Subject: [Nfb-krafters-korner] Needle threaders are sold by NFB
The NFB's Independence Market (sometimes called the NFB store) sells
needle threaders that are for hand-sewing and we used to have some for
threading a needle in a sewing machine. I do not see online the
threaders for a sewing machine but I bet Ellen Ringlein, the manager of
the Market, knows where to purchase them. You can purchase from the
Independence Market online or send an email asking them what is
available and what are the shipping costs. Email to
IndependenceMarket at nfb.org.
By the way, if you are not sure that the threader you want is sold by
the NFB, it would cost you $6.00 to get one of each kind to test them
for ease of use (plus shipping, whatever it is for these very
lightweight items). First, here is the way I found it on our Web site
and, then, here are the 3 types sold. I did a cut and paste from the Web
site:

THROUGH THE NEEDLE AND REMOVE THE THREADER.

NEEDLE THREADER-HEXE AIH01N 3.00 Add
HEXE NEEDLE THREADER, [This one is shaped like a flat, two-dimensional
house with a chimney. Lay the thread in the crack between the slanted
roof and the chimney; drop the needle down the chimney with the eye of
the needle on the bottom; press the lever on the house and a tiny metal
needle pushes the thread through the eye of the needle if the eye is
facing the correct way. If the first time press does not work, slightly
turn the needle to turn the eye around a bit and push the lever again.
Check if the thread is poking out the side of the chimney. Pull the
thread so more of the thread comes through the eye, then pull the needle
up out of the chimney all loaded with your thread.]

Subject: [Nfb-krafters-korner] Long last a little info
I went to the Rhinebeck Sheep and Wool Festival today and went searching
in the jem section there. Audrey had brought along a standard needle
threader and we asked around to find someone with wire for beads. Well
we found a fellow that did not bring the wire, but carries it in his
store. He is guessing that it might be 26 or 28 gauge and said I need
to find harden wire opposed
to soft or medium wire. He told me to check in Radio Shack. I don't
know why
radio shack might carry something like this, but at least I have some
info now to start my search. The fellow told me that Germany was
printed on the
bass of the needle threader and to check that out, too. This was not
the
needle threader that I have and I think that needle threader Germany
might be a bit of a broad area to find it, but I am willing to give it a
try.
