Annie E. Casey Foundation Announces Guidelines for 
Baltimore
Direct Services Grant Program

Deadline: April 14, 2008 (Intent to Apply)

The Annie E. Casey Foundation's ( 
http://www.aecf.org/ ) Baltimore Direct Services Grants 
Program annually funds a wide range of not-for-profit 
community-based or community-serving organizations that 
work directly with disadvantaged children, youth, and 
families, primarily in Baltimore City.

Since the program began in 1995, between twenty to 
thirty new awards ranging from $2,000 to $20,000 each 
have been made each year. Successful applicants are 
funded for one year, and are then eligible for a second 
year of support equal to 50 percent of the first-year 
award. Grants may be used to start or enhance direct 
services or programs such as health care, education, 
job training, counseling, violence prevention, 
recreation, cultural arts, child care, 
after-school/summer programs, community/economic 
development, education, employment assistance/job 
training, family support, HIV/AID (treatment, 
prevention, education), mentoring, recreation, 
school-based initiatives, substance abuse prevention, 
and youth development for disadvantaged children, 
youth, and families.

To be eligible for consideration, an applicant must be 
a not-for-profit community-based or community-serving 
organization with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status.
