Hello Fund-seekers,

This grant funding opportunity sounds very possible for
programs, projects, and services often performed by NFB
chapters and affiliates.  At the least, it could be
passed on to some "centers for the blind" in those
areas, to hopefully improve services there for blind
people.

New Hampshire Charitable Foundation Invites Grant
Applications
for Community Work in North Country

Deadline: October 1, 2007; and April 1, 2008

The Neil and Louise Tillotson Fund, a donor-advised
fund of the
 New Hampshire Charitable Foundation (
http://www.nhcf.org/ ),
 has announced a second year of funding to support
community work
 in the North Country.

The fund will accept proposals from eligible
organizations pro-
 viding services in Dixville and surrounding towns in
New Hampshire,
 Vermont, Maine, and Quebec.

Nonprofits and community groups working in the areas of
education,
 economic development, conservation and sustainable
forestry, and
 basic needs and community safety net are encouraged to
apply. The
 fund is particularly interested in programs that
address the fol-
 lowing goals: strengthen existing institutions in the
North
 Country region; address gaps in services to meet basic
needs;
 support and strengthen existing and emerging community
leaders;
 strengthen ability of communities and individuals to
impact
 public policy; preserve and enhance the natural,
cultural, and
 social assets of the North Country; and leverage
public and pri-
 vate funding.

Grant requests of up to $100,000 each will be
considered. Approx-
 imately $3 million in total funding will be awarded by
July 2008
 with these additional funds.
