Hello,

Maybe it's just me, but I have a hard time sitting by
quietly while an organization talking of "social
change" ignores the discrimination against people with
disabilities.  Below, they mention women's rights and
racial issues among other things, but say nothing about
disabilities.  This grant opp is only good for Georgia,
and the Carolinas.  But I want to urge affiliates and
chapters there to apply for this funding.  Let them
just try and say that disabled rights and disabilities
education is not a social issue.  Please, someone, try
for these grants, which vary from $1000 to $5000.

The Fund for Southern Communities (
http://www.fundforsouth.org/ )
 is a public foundation that supports and unites
organizations and
 donors working to create just and sustainable
communities that
 are free of oppression and that embrace and celebrate
all people.
 Through grantmaking and related activities, the fund
seeks to
 foster social change initiated by community-based
groups in Geor-
 gia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

FSC supports small community groups working against
racism and
 for environmental justice, women's rights, youth
development,
 LGBTQ rights, worker's rights, civil and disability
rights, and
 other issues that address social change through
community organ-
 izing.

The fund provides seed grants to new projects or
general or pro-
 ject support to small organizations with
organizational budgets
 of $150,000 or less). The fund does not make grants
for direct
 services, social services, or special events.
Applications must
 include a copy of the applicant organization's
tax-exempt deter-
 mination letter or fiscal sponsor's letter.

Grants range from $1,000 to $5,000 each.
