[New-hampshire-students] Sponsoring Ed in Dallas

Hello Board, I am hereby calling for a sponsorship check in the amount of $50 from the affiliate on ed's behalf for the Imagination fund walk in Dallas. If there is no opposition, then I will authorize a check in that amount.
Please feel free to also sponsor Ed personally. It is a terrific thing for Ed to do in representing NH.

I am a marcher in Dallas on July 2, and ask for your sponsorship. Would you
please make a donation to the Imagination Fund on my behalf. Because of the
heat of Dallas the walk will be early in the morning. The imagination fund
has sponsored research which led to the development of a pocket-sized
machine which will read boxes and bottles in stores, shampoo vs. skin cream
bottles in hotels, papers handed out at a meeting, etc. Last year they
brought 200 blind HS students to John Hopkins University for a week's work
in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math), has an age-appropriate
science camp for blind children from 5th to 12th grades (the HS students
instrument and launch a sounding rocket at a NASA facility), etc. Please
make the check out to NFB and indicate it is a donation to the Imagination
Fund in my honor, and either mail it to Imagination Fund, National
Federation _OF_ the Blind, 1800 Johnson St., Baltimore MD 21230-4998, or to
me for bundling and forwarding. Thank you,

Wal-Mart to Serve as Title Sponsor of the NFB March for Independence

Wal-Mart's Donation Will Support Blind People Across the Country

Baltimore, Maryland (April 21, 2008): The
National Federation of the Blind (NFB) announced
today that Wal-Mart will be the title sponsor of
the NFB's second annual March for
Independence.  Wal-Mart made a donation to
support blind people and those losing vision
through the programs and initiatives of the
National Federation of the Blind (NFB) Jernigan
Institute.  The March for Independence­A Walk for
Opportunity will take place on the morning of
Wednesday, July 2, as part of the convention of
the National Federation of the Blind to be held this year in Dallas.

Fifteen hundred blind citizens from across the
nation will march from the Hilton Anatole Hotel
to the American Airlines Plaza to raise money to
benefit blind people all over the United States
and to raise awareness about the capabilities of blind people.

"As a company that strives to help people live
better, Wal-Mart is proud to sponsor charitable
causes important to our customers and associates,
such as the annual March for Independence," said
Scott Williams, vice president of E-Commerce,
Sam's Club, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. "Wal-Mart is

to improve the lives of blind people throughout the country."

Dr. Marc Maurer, President of the National
Federation of the Blind, said: "We are pleased to
have Wal-Mart as the title sponsor of our March

to change what it means to be blind and once and
for all eliminate the 70 percent unemployment
rate among the blind in the United States."
