By the way –

When this came up with Guide Dogs Of The Desert in the subject line, I thought it was my notice that I was about to go get my dog! I was extremely disappointed when it wasn’t actually from Guide Dogs Of The Desert. I could almost have cried.

All I’ve heard about GDD is they are a small school and they don’t train during the summer, because of the heat, and so they may have a long waiting list. 
I also wonder if they do any work in a busy city, just because of their location.  For some people that’s something to think about, but not for others.
