I found the following:

which says that in small quantities they are fine.  The fats and salt could 
be a problem in large quantities, but not the actual nut.

this one says that macadamia nuts are an absolute no no

All other sources I found were blogs, forums or retail type sites.  So I 
haven't referenced those.  However those I glanced at agreed that peanuts in 
small quantities are not problematic for dogs.
