I only had my dog on leash for the first couple days of training. I put him 
on tie-down at night, but he did not like that, and broke his tie-downs. So, 
I figured I'd just let him roam free at night and c what happened. Nothing 
happened so he has been free ever since. It helps that at the time, I was 
living in an 8 by 12 dorm, and the dog could not get into trouble because 
there was nowhere for him to go.
