This was done to me when I went to school and it was nerve racking. I didn't 
like it but after a bit I got used to the idea and made an adventure out of 
it. The best thing that I think came out of this is now when I am in a car 
or on a bus I keep track of the turns and keep a mental path of where we 
are. It amazes the driver when you tell them what street and intersection 
you are sitting at.
