Committee Updates Content Creation Committee
The nabs content creation team has been hard at work with
November drawing to a close and the year wrapping up in the next month.
First the content creation team has launched a podcast all about the
intersectionality of blindness and invisible disabilities. The podcast can
be found on all podcast streaming platforms at NABS Now. We are also
working hard on launching a presence on Mastadon and TikTok. If you are
interested in getting involved in any of our initiatives please reach out
to the leadership team at our monthly committee meeting happening this
month on December 10th at 8 PM Eastern 5 PM Pacific or directly to
Committee chair Hunter Kuester at hunterkuester2 at gmail.com
Fundraising Committee
The fundraising committee in the month of November ran a
fundraiser through Double Good. We were able to sell just over $500 of
popcorn on their website. For the month of December we are exploring having
another Double Good fundraiser if we can find champions for our sales who
can share our fundraiser on their socials and in person around the
holidays. There
will be friendly competition where the person who raises the most money
will receive 20% of the profits. You won't want to miss out on this
opportunity to help NABS while also having the chance to receive some
holiday funding of your own. If you are interested, please let us know by
filling out the Google Form linked here
<https://forms.gle/eRMfHPiZX7bCH56b8>. 1/2 of our bigger goal’s moving
forward is to explore fundraising outside of our own community. ideas are
still in the development stage, so please reach out to chair Josh Olukanni
at joshuaolukanni2002 at gmail.com, or join our meeting on Sunday, December 10
at 7:00 PM EST, 4:00 PM PST to get more involved.
Advocacy Committee
The Advocacy Committee is ramped up and excited for the
upcoming Washington Seminar! In November, we held a Wash Sem info session
where we gave a lowdown of what to expect at this electrifying event. In
December, we are excited to hold the second session of our Bi-Monthly
Advocacy Series where we talk about advocating for yourself around friends
and family. If you’re interested, we would love to see you there at 6:30-8
PM EST on December 17 to join us for this reflective conversation. If you
have any questions or concerns, reach out to Chair Manahil Jafri at
manahiljafri at gmail.com
<https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/h/tztjkvriyo22/?&cs=wh&v=b&to=manahiljafri@gmail.com>
Membership Committee
The membership committee is hard at work to make NABS a more
welcoming place for all blind students. In November's committee call, the
team reflected on the progress we've made since national convention and
solidified two new long-term initiatives to be launched in the new year.
Song quiz made a come back to the NABS monthly socials, but with a
Christmas holiday twist. Join us in December for our final committee call
of the year on Sunday, December 17 8 PM eastern. There will be no monthly
social in December to celebrate the holidays, but catch us back in January
for some more fun.

Preparing for the Holidays
We understand how stressful it could be dealing with family
during the holidays. The December 2020 NABS Now Podcast titled Handling
Holiday Hazards & Hiccups, discusses how holiday gatherings and
interactions can bring on both unexpected challenges and stress alongside
the joy and delicious food typical of a family gathering. You can listen to
