[NABS-L] Question about College Roommates with a Guide Dog

Hi all,

I am an incoming freshman at New England Conservatory, trying to figure out my housing situation. I am a guide dog user and have heard that guide dog users are legally entitled to get single rooms at college, but they are also significatly more expensive. At NEC, the price difference is about $5,000. My state VR agency covers 75% of room and board, but I'm not sure that they would cover 75% of the extra cost. I'm wondering if guide dog users have opinions about how valuable it is to have a single room and how to navigate the cost difference. Any and all advice is much appreciated!
