IT Accessibility Internship
Internship Description
The State of Maryland Assistive Technology Program seeks a self-directed unpaid IT Accessibility intern with a passion for inclusive technology, collaboration, and creative problem-solving. The intern will actively contribute to meaningful projects and work closely with a mentor and with leadership.
IT Intern Duties and Responsibilities
* Support the IT Accessibility team in testing static websites, apps and software for accessibility in compliance with Section 508
* Assist with troubleshooting issues and provide technical support
* Organize and maintain IT resources
* Creation and/or remediation of documents into accessible form
* Lend IT support in areas such as website accessibility, website coding and UX design.
Requirements
* Undergraduate or graduate student studying: Computer Science, Information Technology, or Human Centered Computing
* Minimum GPA of 3.0
* Familiar with Java, .NET, JavaScript or HTML/DHTML and Microsoft Office Suite
* Strong verbal and written communication
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
* Ability to work well with light supervision
* Strong work ethic and attention to detail
* Work approximately 8-10 hours per week.
