Subject: OFF TOPIC school studies

hi all this is cheryl echevarria, some of you know me from other lists or even meeting me in atlanta last summer.

anyway, I have been attending school some of you know I am kind of breaking into the field for the blind anyway in this.

I am taking medical billing and coding. Yes you would probably need to get your books from RFB&D but our agencies pay that anyway, and yes we will need readers. but that is in almost any field we may go into.

I am doing great even with all the problems, especially since I am there first blind student. I wouldn't recommend taking there online courses. It is also given in some colleges there is an AAS in Health Information Technology which I am hoping to go for once I am done with this. This school also has an internship which is the last 160 hrs of school and then you are done. Yes these internship places know I am blind and that I have a guide dog.

If anyone lives in the suffolk county area, they do have bring a friend to school day and I will find out when they are planning to have it again, if you have a counselor with the CBVH at least here in NY they will pay for it. I am there first doing it, but you need to know the school is still new at this as well, but willing to help. So Far.

been a long haul. so if anyone is interested. Medical billing/coding is an expanding field and they need people all over the place and you can work in a number of fields and not just in doctors office or hospitals,

insurance companies
billing companies
work for someone in human resources
medicare
social security
a lot of places out there.

talk to you all soon.
