[musictlk] Generally available music repository?

Hi Sheri: I imagine copyright issues could be a concern in some
situations. I think though that there are probably ways to circumvent
them. I know that I would be perfectly happy to pay for a musical
transcription in a format I can use without having to spend extra
money to gain the availability to access that transcription. I also
think there is probably some sort of fair usage allowances for hand
done transcriptions. As I said in a previous message, if somebody else
has already done the work of making pieces available in an accessible
format I'd prefer to use them. I'd also be happy to be involved with
helping develop something like a accessible musical repository if it
doesn't already exist.

I love the idea of not recreating the transcription wheel, and I know there are legal and semi-legal websites around with guitar tabs etc for lots of music. It seems like the sort of thing that might require various kinds of password protection and such to keep it legal unless it's all in the public domain already. I do think it's a great idea; I just worry about the details a bit.

You can write posts explaining the files, and ad them to your media library, or copy and paste them onto your blog as individual blog posts. This is just a suggestion, that way blind and sighted musicians alike can learn from them.
