My humble suggestions:
>1:What brand of strings are good for a bass guitar?
Assuming it's an electric bass, most any brand is acceptable. I like
d'Addario XL and Ernie Ball.

>2:What notes do you tune a bass guitar to?
Bass strings are tuned to the same notes as the bottom four strings of a
guitar (except an octave lower): E, A, D, G.

>3:Where can one get a pitch pipe to tune a bass guitar?  (the tuners
>are all digital now; inaccessible)
Most music stores sell pitch pipes and tuning forks.
