Hi. I've been teaching guitar out of my home for over ten years,
mostly to sighted students. I have a BA degree in music and I also
studied privately for over a year when I was younger and have stage
and studio experience under my belt.

It doesn't really matter if you have a degree or are a "professional
musician" or not. The most important thing about teaching is to be
able to explain and demonstrate concepts and exercises in a way that
someone with little to no musical experience can grasp.

It's also important to know who your target market is before you start
advertising online or in the local paper etc.

Once you get a student or students, it's important that you ask the
right questions and evaluate the student in such a way that you can
construct lessons to fit each individual student. some are more
interested in learning their instrument so they can perform the music
of others, some want to write their own music, some want to be a great
soloist, and some just want to play as a hobby. So, you need to
balance out the mix of theory, ear training, playing technique, gjonra
exploration, and improvisation on a student to student basis.

That is just the tip of the iceburg but I hope it helps you a bit.

Cameron.
