hey folks. For those of you who have worked in the recording field, you'll know that pro Tools is one of the most widely used recording platforms at this time. Most every major studio has at least one pro tools rig, and it is usually running on a macintosh system. In April of 2005, Apple released OS 10.4 tiger, which contained a built in screen reader called voiceover. They also created a set of guidelines for third party developers to make their programs accessible. unfortunately, digidesign, makers of pro Tools, have not yet implemented these accessibility guidelines into their subsequent Tiger releases. A petition has now been drawn up to present to Digidesign to make them aware of the impact that this lack of accessibility is having on us blind musicians, producers, students, and engineers. Please take a moment to head over to http://www.protoolspetition.org and sign your name and ask Digidesign to commit to incorporating Apple's accessibility guidelines into future releases of pro Tools. if this were achieved, blind people looking for work in studios could easily walk into a facility, press a key command, and have access and be working on the same level as their sighted counterparts. Also, students of the recording arts will be able to work at the same level as their classmates without the need for special adaptations. I urge all of you. Please head over to http://www.protoolspetition.orgg and make your voice heard. Thanks so much for your time.
Sincerely,
Kevin Reeves
