[Mt-blind] Jonathan Mosen's thoughts on trademarks, for what it is worth

Hello all,

I think Mr. Mosen and others at Freedom Scientific are blowing more smoke
than substance over this trademark issue. I could be wrong but I don't know
of any Freedom Scientific products which have the word "freedom" in the
product name. Saratech on the other hand has "freedom" in the name of their
product Freedom Box.

I recently purchased a new Vacuum Cleaner which is known as the Electrolux
Legacy. As I discussed this further with the sales people in my house, I
bought an Aerus Electrolux Legacy. The original Electrolux Company has
taken the name of Aerus which is Greek for the word air. The Electrolux
trade name was passed about due to various buyouts and mergers etc. Aerus
is licensed to use the Electrolux name but one sees this as Aerus
Electrolux. Eureka somehow has the Electrolux name presently. I certainly
can see the confusion with Consumers over this matter. Some believe Eureka
is giving the name a bad reputation and many don't realize the Electrolux
name is being used by more than one company. Yes, this certainly is
confusing! One can read more by going to:

Somebody might say they received their Guidedog from Guidedogs. Those not
informed about the various schools certainly don't understand whether
someone was referring to Guidedogs for the Blind at San Rafael or in Oregon
or Guidedog Foundation in New York. I believe the abovementioned entities
manage to coexist despite the confusion. I'd say Freedom Scientific should
back off and do the same! I too think they are trying to bully the Saratech
Company needlessly! The law suit or possibly threatened law suit isn't
needed!
