Hi Dan,
I phoned both our Senators and the committee chair persons so keep your
calls coming! We need to flood them with calls if we can.

Subject: [Mt-blind] Talking Books Program
It's not over!
Apparently last week the House committee added another $5 million to the
appropriations for the NLS talking book program's upgrade to digital
formats. This would be the first of five years of appropriations.
But now, as the message below shows, we need to work on the Senate committee
and our Senators. Please call them today - it's critical that they hear how
important the talking books program is to blind Montanans. Because of the
shortness of time, calls are best. Contact info is at the bottom of the
message.
Thanks!
Dan
Fellow Federationists,
Immediate action must be taken. The Senate has decided to skip the
subcommittee mark up on the Legislative Branch Appropriations bill, opting
to mark up the bill before the full Senate Committee on Appropriations on
Thursday June 21. This will not allow us to see how much they have funded
the Talking Books program until the bill is presented to the committee. We
must call our Senators tomorrow, Wednesday June 20, and urge them to include
full funding of the Talking Books program. You should also call the
Chairman of the full Committee Robert Byrd of West Virginia, and
Subcommittee Chairwoman Mary Landrieu of Louisiana, and express your
feelings about the Talking Books program.
To be connected with your Senators office, please call the capitol
switchboard starting at 9:00 am eastern standard time, at 202-225-3121. I
count on all of you to make calls tomorrow to help us achieve our goal of
protecting the Talking Books program.
Thank you for all that you do. Jesse
