This might be worthwhile to get or look into doing ourselves.

Subject: [nfb-talk] DVD on White Cane Day Walk and Pedestrian Safety.
Dear All,
Two years ago. The Palm Beach County Chapter of the NFB made a video DVD of
their White Cane Walk event at the busiest and deadliest intersection in
Palm Beach County.
Palm Beach County is the second deadliest county for pedestrians in the
Nation.
The DVD has interviews and footage of our White cane Walk, including a visit
by the local police who flat out tell us they have no interest in enforcing
the White Cane Law and consider it too low a priority to bother with.
We stopped counting White Cane violations at 150 in less than 2 hours.
We could not even get the officer to write a ticket with over 45 violations
taking place while he is standing there on the corner with us begging him to
do something.
I just recently got the camera footage put on to a DVD and I now have a
limited number of copies.
AS one of the issues we are taking to Tallahassee this year is greater
enforcement of the White Cane and Guide Dog Laws. This DVD could be a tool
for us to use in our packet to give to key legislators.
We invited some students to come and film our White Cane Walk as a student
community service project.
I hope that all of you will think of using this approach too in the future.
Additionally, we had all of our attendees sign a release before the walk so
that the footage could be used in the production of DVD's to be sent to TV
and Media Outlets as (PSA)s Public Service Announcements.
I can send copies to Kathy, Joe, Dan and I will try to get more if you want
them.
I can mail them or bring them to Washington.
Maybe Dan could even put it up for down load on our State web site.
Let me hear from you all.
David Evans, NFBF
