Hello everyone,
It is with deep sadness that I write to let you know of the passing of Karen Mayry, our friend and associate in the movement. Karen had been very ill for a long, long time; she died yesterday afternoon.
For more than thirty years, Karen gave tireless effort to building and strengthening our Federation affiliate in South Dakota and serving for most of that time as our state president in South Dakota. As a native Minnesotan, Karen always worked in close partnership with us in this state and has many, many friends who will hear of her deas as a tremendous loss. Her husband Marsh was her partner and caregiver during the last years as Karen's health forced her to cut back on her Federation work. She never, however, reduced her commitment to the organization. I spoke with her within the last two weeks, and she expressed her continuing interest in everything that was happening in the Federation.
To say that Karen will be missed is an extreme understatement, for her spirit and energy will always be with everyone who knew her and worked with her over the years.
Our most sincere sympathy goes to Marsh and to Karen's family. I do not know of memorial arrangements at this time.
Joyce Scanlan, president
NFB of Minnesota
