Greetings!
The Montana Association for the Blind is doing some fund raising in
conjunction with Schwan's frozen foods. For a two-week period starting
Sunday, November 26, 2006 and ending December 10, purchases from Schwan's
online site using our special MAB code will net 30 percent for the MAB!

Beginning in 2005, the Montana Association for the Blind partnered with the
Montana Conservation Science Institute (MOCSI) to conduct a week-long
natural history camp for blind and low vision youth. Additional support and
guidance came from the National Federation of the Blind's Jernigan
Institute. The purpose of the camp was more than just a fun outdoor
experience for blind kids. We also introduce blind children to blind adult
role models and emphasize the importance of blindness skills in general
(such as the white cane and Braille). Most important, Camp Eureka
encourages the development of nonvisual techniques and strategies for use
in the sciences and the outdoors. Up to 12 students, ranging in age from
8-13 have participated in each of the camp's first two years.

For 2007, the MAB has committed to doing even more for Camp Eureka, and you
can help us raise some of the money and enjoy Schwan's great products,
delivered right to your door!

The MAB is more than 60 years old, and throughout its history has conducted
the Summer Orientation Program for adults who have experienced vision loss.
The "Summer School," as it is affectionately called, provides critical
training in blindness and low vision skills, such as travel with the white
cane, Braille, and managing daily living tasks nonvisually. Up to 30
recently blind Montanans participate each year.

And we provide scholarships to blind Montana college students, provide
financial assistance to Older Blind Montanans who require technology to
maintain independence after losing vision, and sponsor a telephone newspaper
access service, NFB Newsline, which provides call-from-anywhere-anytime
access to three Montana dailies.
