Subject: Blazing the Trail
Hey there everyone!
We are going to be attending an amazing conference this summer and we
wanted to give everyone a heads up about it. We have heard that there
are going to be about 200 professionals and youth at a conference in
Washington, DC, called Blazing the Trail. The conference is on August
15-17 and the professionals really want to hear what we as youth have to
say about policies and practices.
We have heard that at Blazing the Trail we as youth are going to have an
exciting experience at helping professionals change and improve policies
and practices. The policies and practices that they are looking at are
focused on youth development and leadership. The word on the street is
that one of the most important parts of the conference is to listen to
and understand what youth want.
This Summit will be held at a sweet hotel just outside of DC called the
Crystal Gateway Marriott Hotel. The hotel has an indoor pool and a full
underground shopping center and access to the DC Metro right under the
hotel. That means that at night after the conference is over for the
day the youth can go and party in DC. It is rumored that the Summit
will also have singer and songwriter Melody Gardot and
rapper/sign-language performer Sean Forbes performing.
If you are worried about the cost don't be, we have heard that there are
still scholarships for travel and hotel available to youth who would
like to attend. Please request them before they run out so that we can
get all of the youth out to DC and make our voices heard. You will need
to register online if you have not already done so at
http://www.blazingthetrail.org <http://www.blazingthetrail.org/> .
Hotel reservations must be made by Friday, July 13th.
This is going to be an awesome time and we look forward to seeing you!
Sincerely,
Michael Murray Gary Goosman
