Congressman Sessions to Serve As
Honorary Chairman of NFB March for Independence

Dallas, Texas (April 15, 2008): The National
Federation of the Blind (NFB) announced today
that Congressman Pete Sessions (TX-32) will serve
as honorary chairman of the NFB’s second annual
March for Independence. The March for
IndependenceA Walk for Opportunity will take
place on the morning of Wednesday, July 2, as
part of the convention of the National Federation
of the Blind to be held this year in Dallas.

“All Americans, including the blind, deserve an
equal opportunity to rise as high as their talent
and ambition will allow,” said Congressman
Sessions. “I share this fundamental belief with
the National Federation of the Blind, and that is
why I am honored to serve as honorary chairman of
the March for IndependenceA Walk for Opportunity.”

Dr. Marc Maurer, President of the National
Federation of the Blind, said: “We are pleased to
have a pillar of the Dallas community and a
dedicated public servant like Congressman
Sessions join our March for Independence this
year. We look forward to continuing to work with
the Congressman to achieve the full integration
of the blind into society on a basis of equality.”
