Hi Ben. I will ask my supervisor (also named Ben) if he will speak to you. I am not sure what the law is in terms of employers providing employees with what they need to do their jobs, but I am assuming that's all part of the ADA. Who knows? Not me.
What I do assume, in addition to any ADA requirements, is that situational aspects did play into my positive job-tweaks -- my long-term status as well as my immediate supervisors' smart, caring approach to governing the Sun-Sentinel's features copy desk.
No matter what the law is, you can still get a lousy supervisor who will give you grief about every little thing. Or, you can luck out and get a great supervisor who makes coming to work something positive.

Hello to all,
I have returned from california. I would like to make several responses to the last week's posts.
First off, to Elizabeth Sammons, The one major difference between you and a pigheaded buracrat is that you actually respond to direct questions with civility. Many thanks for this.
To Allan Wheeler and Liz Campbell, in my case the labor market research study is federally mandated. With out it, funding for school and technology will not be provided to me. Although I see its usefulness, and have enjoyed the work, it is nonetheless time consuming.
It is Excellent that when a long-time reporter begins to loose sight that the paper comes through with alternative positions. Interviewing Laura Kelly's supervisor would deffinitly give me insight on how other publications may handle such a situation. My question to you Laura is, do you believe your employer would be so accomidating with a new recruit? Do you think your seniority played a role in their willingness to modify your duties?
